Had a day off in the beautiful city of Utrecht. 


Our hostel had something special growing in its garden.


We spent a lot of time inside St. Martin's Cathedral. Beautiful and old.


Got to see our friends Deer Tick play the next day.

Our other tour mates, J. Mascis & The Fog. Dave (WSP) and Kyle (Harvey Milk) joined him on tour. Both friends of ours from Athens. Always good having hometown people on the road.


Had a day off in London and finally got to do "the tourist thing."


The beautiful Westminster Abbey. Didn't go inside because it was 15 quid, but... Beautiful. 


Took a stroll through Hyde Park. The squirrels were incredibly friendly. One climbed up to my shoulder when I called for it. Creepy.


Nothing needs to be said about this.

So yeah, that tour sucked.

Dead Confederate's European tour draws to an end today. We're at the airport now getting ready to head home. First thing I'm gonna do (aside from sleep) is eat some damn BBQ. Now here's an announcement from our UK label, Kartel:

Dead Confederate will be returning this side of the Atlantic in 2010, stay tuned for more on that. In the meantime The Rat has been released on very limited press 7" vinyl this week. The lead track, Dead Confederate's first UK single, has picked up support from Radio 1's Zane Lowe, while the B side - is an acoustic version of Memorial Day Night, both songs are also available to download now on all good digital music stores. Also fresh from the tour is a brand new T-Shirt that's available in the UK/European store now.

Dirty Ammo (live LP)... coming soon!

 
That right there is the album cover to Dirty Ammo. You see, back in May we had a free show at The Earl in Atlanta, GA. The evening was recorded and now selected songs from that night will be available to our fans... for free! Or not free, depending on what you choose. We are going to sell 200 limited edition vinyl records of Dirty Ammo in the US and 100 more in the UK (some online, some in select indie stores, some on tour). For the rest of the folks, we will be giving away Dirty Ammo for FREE online as high-quality MP3's! We are also working on including a charity in the mix for this, more news on that to come. I don't have an actual release date yet but I can promise it will be soon. Oh yeah, and if you live in Athens, GA, head on down to Wuxtry. We put 15 copies in the store last night. Wink. For Halloween this year we played a surprise show at Brooklyn Bowl in NY. We performed the music of Sonic Youth, and Deer Tick performed the music of the Sex Pistols. We were pretty ladies. Go check out the ridiculous pics on our myspace. 

Death By Audio

This post is for all you gear junkies out there. Over the last year we've done a bit of touring with the most wonderful A Place To Bury Strangers. If you've ever heard them live you should know that they are one of the loudest most insanely distorted bands around. What you might not know is that their singer and guitarist, Oliver, also creates their effects pedals. He has a company called Death By Audio and I highly recommend you check them out. They make pedals for everyone from U2 to Serena Maneesh, and now us. When we were in Brooklyn for Halloween we dropped by his shop/home/studio and checked out what all they had going on. I can definitely vouch for the guys and say they really put a lot of intelligence and love into these pedals. Hardy, Walker, and I have all jumped on the DBA bandwagon and have gladly tossed many of our old pedals for some of Oliver's creations. Currently we use 2 Interstellar Overdriver Deluxes, 1 Interstellar Overdriver, 2 Fuzz Wars, and 1 Harmonic Transmission pedal, between the three of us. The only reason I'm posting this is because I really do believe in those guys and their work (and of course their music!).  Check em out.
